Wall To Wall Carpet

Today many people have decided to work from their home. If you are one of those people you might have chosen to set up a room as a dedicated home office. If this office has carpet there are some things you should be aware of. Read this article and learn about the dangers that carpet is exposed to in the average home office.

The biggest danger that carpet faces in an office is from rolling chairs. The constant back and forth motion will quickly wear out a carpet. In a matter of months you can have a carpet that is severely and permanently damaged and abraded. To solve this problem you should purchase a chair mat to have a surface to roll the chair on save wear to the carpet. These do have some disadvantages however as they can leave a noticeable line if they are ever pulled up. To prevent this damage be sure to pick up the mat and vacuum under it at least once every couple of weeks.

Another danger to carpet in a home office is from printer ink and toner. If spilt on the carpet they will often leave a permanent stain. To prevent this damage be sure to put your printer on a good solid shelf and use caution when changing your ink or toner cartridge.

The last way that carpet can be damaged that I will discuss is from computer towers. If a tower is placed on the carpet, the fan will constantly be pulling air up into the tower and through the carpet. This will eventually lead to a line around the tower where the carpet fibers have actually filtered the air passing through them. This line is very difficult to remove. To prevent this damage either place the computer tower on its own shelf or place some kind of solid surface underneath it between it and the carpet.
